Privacy policy

This policy explains how DivLite AstroGuide handles your personal data, including the birth details a reading requires. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Information we collect

When you ask a question we collect your name, your email address, an optional phone number, your date of birth, your time of birth (or a note that it is unknown), your place of birth, and the question itself.

When you write to us through the contact form we collect your name, your email address, a subject and your message.

We also store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address. It cannot be turned back into an IP address and is used only to limit abuse of our forms. We record the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you arrived through.

How we use information

We use your details to prepare and deliver your reading, to reply to you, to take and confirm payment, to keep the records the law requires us to keep, and to protect the site from abuse. That is all.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your birth details with anyone outside the services listed below. We do not use your data to build an advertising profile of you — advertising and personalisation signals are switched off in our analytics.

Astrology consultation data

Your date, time and place of birth, and the question you ask, are the most personal information on this site, and they are treated accordingly.

They exist for one purpose: to cast and read your chart. They are visible only to the astrologer preparing your reading and to the site owner. They are never used for marketing, never published, and never shared as examples without your explicit permission.

Our behaviour-analytics tool records how pages are used, and the consultation and contact forms are masked in those recordings — what you type into them is never captured.

Booking and payment information

Payments are handled by our payment gateway. Your card, UPI or bank details are entered on the gateway's own systems and never reach ours. We receive and store only a transaction reference, the amount, the currency and whether the payment succeeded, which is what lets us match a payment to your order and issue a refund.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. One remembers whether you chose rupees or dollars. One keeps the admin panel signed in. Our analytics tools set cookies to count visits and to recognise a returning session.

If you tick the box to have your birth details remembered, they are stored in your own browser, on your own device. They are not sent to us for that purpose, and you can clear them at any time from the form.

Third-party services

We keep this list short and specific, and it names only services this site actually uses:

Vercel hosts the website. Supabase hosts our database, in Mumbai, India, and stores uploaded images. Razorpay processes payments. Resend sends transactional email, such as your reading and order confirmations. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity measure how the site is used, with forms masked and advertising signals denied. Sentry records technical errors so we can fix them, with request contents stripped out before anything is sent.

Each of these processes data only for the purpose described. If we add or remove one, this list changes with it.

Data security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in an access-controlled database. Admin accounts are protected by hashed passwords and per-area permissions, so each person reaches only what their work requires. Payment details never touch our systems. Error reports are scrubbed of form contents, cookies and query strings before they are sent, so a birth date cannot end up in a log.

No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

Data retention

We keep your birth details and your question for as long as needed to prepare and deliver your reading, and then for three years, so that we can answer follow-up questions and resolve any dispute about an order.

Transaction records are kept for eight years, which is the retention period Indian tax law requires. Contact-form messages are kept for two years. After those periods the data is deleted.

User rights

You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to withdraw the consent you gave when you ticked the box on the form, and to nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf.

To exercise any of them, write to us from the email address you used, through the contact page. We will respond within thirty days. Withdrawing consent stops further processing and leads to erasure, except where we are required by law to keep a record of a transaction.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please write to us first. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children's privacy

This service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that we have collected a child's data without the consent of a parent or guardian, we delete it. Where a parent or guardian books on behalf of a child, the details are treated exactly as set out above.

Policy updates

We will update this page if our practices change, and the date shown on it will change with it. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we will say so clearly rather than rely on you noticing.
